Photos: Dr. Smith's Retirement Party

Last Thursday, the team from Berrien Dental threw a retirement party for Dr. Brian Smith, who officially retired on September 2 but will continue assisting with the transition over the coming months. The party was held in the Saint Joseph office and was a great chance for everyone from both Berrien Dental offices to wish him a wonderful retirement.

Berrien Dental Adds New Office

Dr. Todd Christy and Dr. Eric Balsis of Berrien Dental in Berrien Springs will be adding another practice location to their repertoire.

Dr. Brian Smith, whose practice is in Saint Joseph, has chosen Drs. Christy and Balsis to take over his practice. The new office is located at 711 Comings Avenue, just south of Napier Avenue off of Niles Avenue.

Dr. Smith retired from practice on September 2nd, but will be in the office assisting in the transition over the coming months. His office is approximately 10 miles from Berrien Dental’s office in Berrien Springs. Both offices will be open throughout the week. The Berrien Springs location will maintain its current hours. The Saint Joseph location will be open Tuesday and Thursday from 7am to 5pm and Friday from 7am to 1pm.

The two offices will be linked together to make it convenient for their patients to easily reach them.

The entire team from Dr. Smith's practice will be staying on, during and after the transition. Dr. Christy, Dr. Balsis and the teams from both offices are excited for Dr. Smith and his well-deserved retirement.

For questions or appointments call (269) 471-4055 for Berrien Springs or (269) 983-4311 for Saint Joseph.

A New, Fun Way for Kids to Brush Their Teeth!

Steve Letavish of Proctor & Gamble came in to meet with us about their new products available to patients and our office. Oral B has two cool applications for smartphones. There is one for kids and one for adults. The kids' app allows them to "scan" their toothbrush (as long as it is Oral B) then plays a two minute clock uncovering the character on the brush. The kids can earn virtual stickers on the app. The adult one allows for blue tooth downloads from the newer Oral B electric toothbrushes to save and share in the future, if they want, with our office. Both apps are available for free on iTunes here: Oral-B App and Oral-B's Disney Timer App

It'll ruin your smile over time!!

Excessive diet-soda drinking could leave you looking like a "Breaking Bad" extra, according to a case study published in the journal General Dentistry.

The research compared the mouths of a cocaine user, a methamphetamine user, and a habitual diet-soda drinker, and found the same level of tooth erosion in each of them. The culprit here is citric acid, which weakens and destroys tooth enamel over time.
